Africa's earliest history was written in clay.  Objects were first molded by hand, then fired in open hearths or baked in the sun.  Inspired by these ancient traditions, Clay Tapestries are crafted using the same techniques.

History is foundational in all of the work, as each piece is seeded from the age old idea that in Africa, the body is art.  From scarification and body paint to jewelry and clothing, Clay Tapestries explores the rich texture and artistic expressions of the African people through the prism of ornamentation, traditional adornments, symbolism, material and lifestyle.
