In parts of West Africa, Batakari shirts and hats are the distinguished provenance of chiefs and other tribal members.  Adorned with talismans of leather and indigenous textiles, the attire may be worn for war, hunting and special ceremonies, to bestow protection and invincibility to the wearer.
