Between the 9th and 18th centuries, the legendary Trans-Saharan Trade Routes were the commercial superhighways of the times, bringing commodities and resources to market towns.  As hubs for creative networking, new ideas, tools and techniques were liberally exchanged.  Craftsmanship flourished and exquisite works of art were produced.
